
Miaomiao Yu is a young pianist bursting onto today’s concert scene with her effervescent personality and versatility. She has performed as a solo pianist, a chamber musician and an orchestral guest artist across North America and Europe in venues such as the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts, the Musikhalle in Hamburg, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Cadogan Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields and St. James Piccadilly, London. Her broadcasts on television and radio include Channel 4 (UK), BBC World Services, RTE (Ireland), CBC and Bravo TV (Canada).
Miaomiao has gained much recognition on the international scene with top awards in the Hong Kong International Piano Competition, Toronto Symphony Piano Competition, Bromsgrove International Young Soloists Competition, Marlow International Concerto Competition, Imperial Oils Young Performers Competition, and the Royal Overseas League Competition.
Miaomiao’s international upbringing on three continents provided her with a unique set of experiences to create her rich sound palette. Studying with world-renowned pianists John O’Conor, John Perry, and Christopher Elton helped to hone her distinctive style. She received her first scholarship at the age of 11 from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and has since garnered over 50 awards, the most recent being the Wingate and Countess of Munster Scholarships. Miaomiao attended the Young Artists’ Performance Academy, a pre-college program for gifted young musicians at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Toronto and later received her Bachelor of Music degree from RCM’s Glenn Gould Professional School. In 2001, Miaomiao was chosen by Rotary International as the Canadian recipient of the prestigious Ambassadorial Scholarship. She obtained her Master’s in Music Performance at the Royal Academy of Music. She currently resides in London and is a Professor of Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

想做个‘文化大使’的苗苗现在和一位来自新疆的女高音合作,在英国演出中国的民族音乐,一人弹、另一个人唱。苗苗说,虽然她从小学的一直都是西方音乐,但是她希望在未来的创作中给自己的音乐添加上中国色彩,在演奏的时候给她的听众讲,为什么音乐能如此深深地打动人心。
